Re-cutting the 30 Coimbatore school homepages we audited on 7 September: of the 27 readable ones, 12 miss three or more of six basics we check for, and 10 of the 23 that invite an enquiry publish no admission date. The six are our own list.
Three of the 27 Coimbatore school homepages we could read carry all six of the basics we check for. Twelve miss three or more. We audited these same 30 sites on 7 September and reported each failure on its own. Cut as combinations, the same data reads differently.
What did we actually check?
We fetched the homepage of 30 Coimbatore schools in September 2026 as raw HTML, with no JavaScript executed. Twenty-seven returned readable content. Every count below uses those 27 as its denominator, because a page that renders nothing cannot fairly be marked down for hiding a phone number.
The six checks are ours. No board or standards body publishes a required homepage checklist for schools, so read these counts as a distribution and not as a pass mark. The gaps arrive in combinations, not one at a time
Read separately, most of those numbers look survivable. Only 4 of 27 homepages lack an admission path, and only 5 of 27 hide a phone number. A school reading one row at a time would conclude it is doing fine. The combined view is harsher.

Only three homepages in the set clear all six, and no homepage missed every one. The middle of this distribution, not its tail, is where most schools sit.

Why does an enquiry form with no dates cost you?
The most common damaging pair is a school that asks for the enquiry and then withholds the reason to make it. Ten of the 23 homepages carrying an enquiry form or a visible admission path publish no admission date and no academic year stamp. A website builder copyright line was not accepted as a stamp.
Put that in a parent's hands and the sequence goes:
- They find the form, which means the page has done its first job
- They cannot tell whether admissions opened in November, close next week, or closed in March
- The form now asks for a name and a phone number in exchange for a fact the page could have printed for free
- The parent either pays that price or opens the next school in the tab strip

Dates are also the cheapest of the six to fix. One line of text, changed once a year.
A named board with no affiliation number is a claim, not proof
Board and affiliation behave differently from the rest, and the split matters more than the headline. The three states in our set:
- 11 of the 27 readable homepages never state a board at all
- Of the 16 that do state one, 12 print no affiliation or registration number
- Across all 27 readable homepages, 5 printed a number
So the common case is not silence. It is a claim a parent cannot check: the page names a board and offers nothing that lets anyone confirm the naming.

This is a structured data problem as much as a copy one. The schema.org School type inherits a hasCertification property built for exactly this, alongside address and telephone. Printing the affiliation number in text and marking it up gives a parent and a machine the same checkable fact.
What does a crawler see with JavaScript off?
Four of the 30 homepages were not fully readable without JavaScript, and 3 of those returned nothing at all. That is a small share and worth stating plainly rather than inflating. It still matters, because Google is explicit about the cost.
Google's JavaScript SEO basics says server-side rendering stays a good idea partly because "not all bots can run JavaScript". Google itself renders with an evergreen Chromium, but it queues that work, and the queue can run longer than a few seconds.
Google's snippet documentation says snippets are built primarily from page content, and the meta description is used only when it describes the page better.

Fix the six in this order, dates first
Order by what a parent needs in order to act, not by what is easiest to demonstrate.

What does this audit not tell you?
Plenty, and the limits are worth printing rather than burying.
- The sample is 30 Coimbatore schools, so it describes Coimbatore in September 2026 and nothing wider. It does not speak for Chennai, for Tamil Nadu, or for colleges
- As flagged up front, these are the same 27 readable homepages as the earlier comparison post, cut a different way rather than collected afresh
- We measured homepages only. A school may publish dates and affiliation numbers one click deeper and this audit would not see them
- We did not measure whether any of it changes enquiry volume, which would need enquiry data from the schools themselves
The third limit cuts both ways. A parent skimming five school sites in one evening is also reading homepages, and is also not clicking deeper.

A parent generally cannot confirm it otherwise. 11 of 27 readable homepages never stated a board, and among schools whose name contains Matriculation or Anglo Indian, the name often carries the claim while the page text never repeats it.
Do school websites work without JavaScript?
Mostly, in this sample. 4 of 30 Coimbatore school homepages were not fully readable with JavaScript disabled and 3 returned nothing at all. Google renders JavaScript with Chromium but queues it, and its documentation notes that not all crawlers execute JavaScript.
Does a school homepage need a meta description?
It helps but does not control the result. Google builds snippets primarily from page content and uses the meta description when it describes the page better. Google publishes no character limit and truncates to fit the device, so any specific length you see quoted is somebody's house rule.
